IGF Finalist Jazzpunk arrives on February 7

Jazzpunk, the open-world adventure spoof, is ready to pratfall onto PC and Mac on February 7.

Necrophone Games' comedy adventure game, Jazzpunk, was nominated as an IGF 2014 Grand Prize finalist earlier this week. The studio celebrated by giving its off-the-wall espionage game a release date. Jazzpunk will hit PC and Mac on February 7.

Creator Luis Hernandez made the announcement on Twitter (via Joystiq) earlier this week. For those unfamiliar with the game, Jazzpunk is set in an alternate Cold War reality and centers around open-world exploration. The game's main draw is its spoof comedy, modeled after classic Zucker films like The Naked Gun, Airplane!, and Hot Shots.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
