Star Wars: The Old Republic's 2.4 update confronts the Dread Masters

The Dread Masters have wreaked havoc throughout Star Wars: The Old Republic, but the upcoming 2.4 update, The Dread War, is promising an end to their story arc.

The all-powerful Sith Lords, the Dread Masters, have left the galaxy trembling throughout the life of Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, the upcoming 2.4 update is teasing a conclusion to their story arc, as Jedi and Sith take up arms for The Dread War on October 1.

The Dread War will introduce two new Level 55 Operations, taking players to the outer moon of Oricon to traverse through the treacherous Dread Fortress and Dread Palace. The Dread Fortress will pit players against one of the six Dread Masters, while the Dread Palace promises an end to the Masters' saga.

If you've let your SWTOR monthly subscription lapse, you may want to consider jumping back in, since subscribers that take part in the next update will receive the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion (normally $19.99, $9.99 for subscribers) at no extra charge through October 20. At $14.99 for a 30-day subscription, it's a decent deal for players that are looking to get back in and get the new content.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
