Anno Online celebrates franchise's 15 year anniversary

Hard to believe, but Anno is 15 years old! Ubisoft Blue Byte is celebrating with a new ANNOversary event for Anno Online.

The Anno series is turning 15! These franchises grow up so fast. Ubisoft and developer Blue Byte are just as misty-eyed as the rest of us and are cordially inviting fans to celebrate this milestone by jumping into Anno Online's "ANNOversary" event.

The ANNOversary event will celebrate the series' heritage by introducing a mysterious island to Anno Online. To explore the island fully, players will need to complete a number of quests. The event will also introduce new currencies, ANNO Planks (tied to in-game quests and community activities) and Doubloons (used to acquire new buildings and a premium ship). In addition to these features, all participants will receive an exclusive in-game 15th anniversary statue.

Anno Online is free-to-play, so feel free to jump into the ANNOversary festivities right now.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I loved the previous ANNO games. Is ANNO online looking to follow its progenitor's footsteps?

Pay to win? As in AhNooo way I'm playing this.

Or, I don't have a lot of time to play PC games anymore, but this ANNO will be an exception?
