It's that time of year when digital retailers start their deep discounts of games to keep you occupied during the slow summer months. Yesterday Sony announced its PSN Summer Blast sale, and today Microsoft followed suit by kicking off its Xbox Live "Ultimate Game Sale." It's split into both daily and a week-long sale, with pretty deep discounts for each.

The offers on the Major Nelson blog list today (July 2) deals for Assassin's Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, and Max Payne 3, so grab those ones fast. You have a little more time for the week-long sales lasting through July 8, which notably include Mass Effect and Bulletstorm for five bucks. Now you can finally correct the grievous mistake of not buying Bulletstorm.

Check out the full listing below, and keep your eye out for the rotating daily deals through this Friday, July 5.

I haven't even finished the first one. Is there any reason to buy it for 360 when ya already got it on Steam?

They have gotten pretty aggressive in sale pricing over the last few months.

Considering that players can't play these games on the next gen consoles coming out this fall it only seems prudent to sell them at big discounts while they can.

Its not a great game but I think you can get $3 of enjoyment out of it during a playthrough. Plus you can see how far titles have come through this generation.

I love it. But, I also love TimeSplitters. All three of them. Which I find a bit similar to this. Should give you an idea.

a bad game for $3 is just a waste of $3 + your time

You will get to experience shitty launch games and the drought that convinces you to play them soon enough!

Eeesh. Just played the demo. Would pay $3+ to not have done that.

It's was a bad game that's now worse. Crappy controls and animations, dull gameplay, and just an abysmal framerate. The weapons are pretty cool, though.

WWE 13 is good, and for that price it's worth it for the Attitude Era content alone.

Other than crashing alot, I had a good time with it. Hadn't played a rasslin game in years; gone are the days of simply mashing buttons as fast as possible

WWE All-Stars is a good button masher game if you want that type of wrasslin' title.

I saw this on Slickdeals this morning, and I wanted to get Spelunky for $7.50. But the MS titles are only on sale to Gold members.

It's nice to see them finally offering a decent sale, but too bad I won't have the spare cash to take advantage of it until I get paid on the 9th.
