Dragon's Crown cutting into PS3 and Vita this summer

Dragon's Crown was announced alongside the PlayStation Vita at E3 2011 but while Sony's handheld came out long ago, the hand-drawn beat 'em up from Odin Sphere dev Vanillaware has been notably absent. Not for much longer. It'll arrive on PlayStation 3 and Vita this summer, publisher Atlus announced today--a wee bit later than the original launch window of spring 2012.

The side-scrolling beat 'em up sees up to four characters, either real players or AI, raiding dungeons and mashing monsters in search of treasure. It packs six classes: the tanky Fighter; grappling Dwarf; axe-y Amazon; zappy Wizard; ranger-like Elf; and icy summoning Sorceress. Visit the official website for more details.

UTV Ignition was originally publishing Dragon's Crown but Atlus took over last year and delayed it into 2013. It's bumped the price too, from a planned $29.99 to $39.99 on Vita and $49.99 on PS3.

Atlus dropped three new screenshots today, and here's the old announcement trailer:

The game will most likely be good, but man... I can't get over how stupid those female characters look. That sorceress is in stupid lingerie that wouldn't stay on at the slightest movement. Her just turning around would make that "dress" fall down.

That logo font is stupid, but I must have this game. Here's hoping for cross platform (read: free Vita version) play

So is this game really just a multiplayer beat-em-up or is it actually an RPG like Odin Sphere? Kind of disappointing if it's just action, I might pass on it after all.
