Final Fantasy XIV trailer invites players back

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, in advance of its upcoming relaunch.

Final Fantasy XIV has had its share of pitfalls -- it's not every day that Square Enix flat-out apologizes for a game, after all. But after months of rejiggering, the game has relaunched itself as A Realm Reborn, and Square has released a new cinematic trailer for the rebranded title.

Square Enix says A Realm Reborn was rebuilt entirely, clearly wanting to disassociate itself from the troubles it faced last year. The PC version should hit this year, and the PlayStation 3 version is still on-track to enter beta as well.

So...the game was terrible, which means lacking gameplay, and they plan on convincing players to come back by showing a CG trailer....

Yeah they should release incomplete gameplay videos. Just what the relaunch needs to be successful!

Would match up pretty well with the incomplete game thing they previously had going on XD

CG trailers for games should be outlawed, as far as I'm concerned. Christ I hate how deceiving the lot of them are.

I see it, at least partially, as ignorance from the developer. If they don't realize what gamers really want to see is gameplay... then they are out of touch. And if they feel the game doesn't look good enough to show actual gameplay... then they are screwed anyways. Not much good can come out it either way.

If they want to get people excited with a fancy video... then do it... then show us gameplay after that!

Japan wouldn't know how to cope with this.
