Dragon's Dogma may get 'new play elements' as DLC

Dragon's Dogma will be getting "new play elements," according to game director Hideaki Itsuno.

Dragon's Dogma already offers plenty of extra missions and gear as downloadable content, but game director Hideaki Itsuno has hinted that more is on the way. In an interview, he issued a vague warning not to offload your copy just yet. Because (come on) why would you think Capcom is done with DLC?

"I'm sure many have already cleared the game, but for Dragon's Dogma, we're continuing to prepare new play elements," Itsuno told 4Gamer (via Andriasang). "It would be best if you held on to the game for a bit." Whatever he has planned, it sounds more ambitious than pieces of armor.

He also pointed out that he'd like to make "the next title," again confirming earlier statements that Capcom sees Dragon's Dogma as a "major franchise." But he says that will depend on response from the fans. The game received a generally positive critical reception, and cracked the May NPDs with just over a week on the market, so it seems to be well on its way.

Awesome. So far all the dlc stuff has been fairly boring, would definitely like something with more substance.

Would really be interested in some meaty expansion-pack DLC with new areas and monsters. Don't really care about this micro dlc stuff they have going though.

Haven't beaten the game by any means but some DLC opening up the world past the shadow fort seems to be a logical extension... it's supposed to be the bulwark against raiding goblin armies or something so one would think the lands that lie beyond are engulfed in chaos and probably plagued by huge, high-level monsters.

Bring it on! I absolutely fell in love with this game, which is especially cool because there is a tremendous amount of improvement that can be done to the game still. Much of it better suited for a sequel than DLC though.

I would really like to see some street fighter elements involved with the combat. Unleashing some SF moves on enemies in an open free world would never get old. How cool would it be if you could Shoryuken an enemy into the air or launch an energy ball into someones face. Make it happen Capcom!!!
