Diablo 3 'Skill Calculator' lets you preview abilities

Blizzard has created a Skill Calculator to map out your abilities in Diablo 3. You can check the required level and share your build on social networks.

Diablo III is looking likely for a 2012 release, but if you just can't wait to spec your character, Blizzard has opened up a Skill Calculator to let you plan out your skills and check on the experience level you'll need to achieve it. This should hold you over with all the fun of playing Diablo, except without the enemies, loot, or dungeons.

The process is pretty simple. Pick a class, choose your Active skills with Runestones, and then Passive skills. The calculator will spit out an experience level, and you can share your build on Facebook or Twitter. If nothing else, it will let you have notes to refer to when you finally get your mitts on the game.

Blizzard recently revealed it plans to release both Diablo 3 and an unnamed expansion pack by 2014. Plans for a public beta still haven't been announced, but we expect to hear more about them before the end of the year.

      Does anyone know if the way poison works has been changed? I always found it the least useful-by far- of the elemental attack types.

        It's also referred to as "Acid" in D3. Same type of mechanic though, in that it debuffs and stops life regen. Although in D2 a lot of mobs/bosses were immune to the "stop life regen" part, which was usually the sole reason of its usefulness.

        Mobs will poison you as well in D3, and the monk has some cleansing skill which removes it.

        I hope they do buff the mechanic. They've put a lot of skills focused on it at least: Poison Dart, Plague of Toads, Zombie Charger, Corpse Spiders, and Acid Cloud (and Hydra + Runestone).

      I likely won't be playing HC, but just saw this Rune effect for Monk's Decoy ability. Sounds like a great tool for playing a HC character.

      Lethal Decoy (with Alabaster Rune) - If you die while the decoy is alive, you are resurrected at the decoy's location with 100% Life. The decoy no longer attracts enemies and the duration is increased to 26 seconds.

      Interesting idea for your skill binds, stolen from another thread:

      Left Skill = Left Mouse button
      Right Skill = Right Mouse button
      1 = Shift + Left mouse button
      2 = Shift + Right Mouse button
      3 = Side mouse button (3)
      4 = Side Mouse button (4)

      That way no skills are being used via your keyboard, which can be a bit awkward casting directional spells with. Might have to rebind your "stand still" key to space or what not.
