Last of Us has great characterization and atmosphere, but it’s on rails. FO:NV better satisfies what I look for in a post apocalyptic game. I want to head out in any direction and explore the dusty ruins of an expired world, and I want to be able to choose different paths and factions to arrive at the conclusion of the game if I want to.
Last of Us tells a story that happens to be in an apocalyptic setting, but in new Vegas the world is the story, and I can change that world depending on how I play.
I think FO:NV is the best post apocalyptic game by a wide margin.
