Big Drunk Satanic Massacre interview: Son of a son of a Satan

Developer Big Way Games is building a devilish action RPG that promises to be a hell of a good time.

When there’s no room left on Earth, the yuppies will gentrify the halls of Hell, or so it seems to be in Big Way Games’ new action RPG Big Drunk Satanic Massacre (or BDSM for short). In this slightly-less-than-serious take on the popular genre, BDSM tells the story of capitalism and corporate expansion gone awry, with Hell falling victim to the same gentrification and development that plagues many major neighborhoods today. Many years into this takeover, Satan’s son Lou decides to fight back and make Hell great again. The premise sounds more absurd than usual, so we decided to find out more.

While on location at PAX West 2019, the Shacknews video team took the time to investigate BDSM (lol) and learn more about the upcoming game.

The game follows Lou on his quest to take back Hell from its new corporate overlords. Following the invasion, big business discovered that if you grind up demons and grill them, humans find them as appetizing as a conventional hamburger. The capitalist machine is hell-bent on exploiting the denizens of hell to fatten up the Earth’s populace, as well as corporate coffers. Lou will fight to take back his home through the use of firearms.

If it wasn’t already apparent just from reading the premise, BDSM promises an experience that is tongue-in-cheek and aims to make the player spend as much time laughing as they do shooting. The development team aims to evoke nostalgia for the golden video game era of the 90s, back when games were raunchy for the sake of being raunchy and considerations for the feelings of others was not in the cards.

BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre is expected to launch on Steam September 26, 2019.
