The Xbox Game Pass library for both Xbox One and PC continues to expand and occasions like Gamescom are giving the folks at Microsoft more reason to keep the party going. On Monday, the team at Xbox announced another handful of games set to hit the Xbox Game Pass service, including a handful of acclaimed titles released in 2019.

Here are the games set to release on Xbox Game Pass today, August 19:

  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition (PC)
  • Devil May Cry 5 (Xbox One)
  • Stellaris (Xbox One, coming soon to PC)

There's plenty to say about Devil May Cry 5, a legitimate Game of the Year candidate, hitting the Xbox Games Pass service less than six months after its release. We go more into detail on this development in a separate post, so let's focus on Age of Empires and Stellaris. Age of Empires collects the classic RTS game with full-blown 4K resolution and 8-player battles. Meanwhile, Stellaris is Paradox Interactive's highly-praised galactic strategy game, tasking players with meeting and interacting with alien races while they explore the cosmos.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Here are the games set to release on Xbox Game Pass this Thursday, August 22:

  • Ape Out (PC)
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance (Xbox One and PC)

Ape Out might eventually get squeezed out of GOTY considerations, but it is an excellent indie effort from designer Gabe Cuzzillo and the mad geniuses at Devolver Digital. For those unfamiliar, this is the top-down game that sees a gorilla attempting to escape captivity from a zoo, amidst a sea of neon colors and jazz music.

Meanwhile, Kingdom Come: Deliverance was in heavy GOTY consideration throughout 2018, a story-heavy RPG that takes players through the Roman Empire. If you pick this up, you'll probably need our guide and walkthrough.

The Bard's Tale 4: Director's Cut
The Bard's Tale IV: Director's Cut

Here's what's coming to Xbox Game Pass next Tuesday, August 27:

  • Bard's Tale IV: Director's Cut (Xbox One and PC)

This update to the original Bard's Tale IV has been in the works from the team at inXile Entertainment throughout the year. It hasn't been released just yet, but it will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Here's what's coming to Xbox Game Pass on Friday, August 30:

  • Blair Witch (Xbox One and PC)

Like Devil May Cry 5, we have plenty to say about this and we'll go into it in a separate post.

While Xbox revealed the remainder of the Games Pass lineup for August, they also teased one major release for September: Dead Cells. The acclaimed indie game that cracked several GOTY lists in 2018 will be available for both Xbox One and PC users on September 5.

There's much more news pouring in from Gamescom, so stay tuned to Shacknews, as we endeavor to follow everything going down this week.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
