SNK has had a good year so far, releasing its 2019 revival of the Samurai Shodown franchise. It's been well-received by the fighting game community, but SNK is not ready to stop there. There's plenty more to come to Samurai Shodown, including an entire Season 2 worth of DLC.

Prior to Sunday's Tekken 7 Top 8, the EVO 2019 spectators wre treated to a look at what's next for Samurai Shodown. This includes the full season of DLC characters. They are:

  • Rimururu (August)
  • Shizumaru Hisame (September)
  • Basara (October)
  • Kazuki Kazama (November)
  • Wan-Fu (December)

That'll be one character a month through the rest of the year. SNK is also promising that Shizamaru Hisame will be available for free to all regions, regardless of whether they own the Season Pass.

However, there's still more coming. SNK is currently working on a Season 2 for Samurai Shodown, with new characters set to release throughout 2020. The first of these characters was revealed at the tail end of Sunday's trailer. Mina Majikina placed first on the Dengeki Online popularity poll and will lead off next year's batch of Season 2 characters.

There wasn't too much footage shown for each character, but expect more in-depth trailers leading up to their release. Samurai Shodown is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
