BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle's 2.0 update will include nine new characters, four of whom were revealed at EVO 2019. One of them is an actual tank. Seriously.

The final day of competition at EVO 2019 has begun. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle got the party started with an exciting Top 8. But once the medals were handed out, it was time to get the day's announcements underway.

The next big chapter of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle was announced on the EVO stage. A new trailer revealed that the game would hit Version 2.0 soon, along with a slew of new characters. They are Yumi, from the Senran Kagura Estival Versus series; Akatsuki and Blitztank (the latter being an actual freakin' tank) from the Akatsuki Blitzkampf series; and Neopolitan from the RWBY series. They are only the first four of nine characters that are set to hit the game in the months ahead.

The next big update is being touted as the "Next" version of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. This would imply that in addition to the numerous characters about to be introduced, players can also expect balance changes across the board. There are no details on what else the update will entail just yet, but there's plenty of time to build to that. The 2.0 update is another three months out, which also gives Arc System Works time to unveil the remaining five characters set to join the fight.

Arc System Works isn't done at EVO just yet. The publisher is also promising another announcement later this Sunday. Shacknews will monitor this story as it develops.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will level up to Version 2.0 on November 21.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
