Blue icons on map in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Confused about the blue icons on your map in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night? Here's what those symbols mean and how to remove them.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night doesn't really go out of its way to explain itself to the player. As such, many are left wondering why there are blue symbols all over the in-game map. These blue rose map markers are frequently used to identify the locations of important objects, but players are finding them in random locations spread all across the castle map. What do these blue map icons mean, how did they get there, and how can you get rid of them? Read on to find out.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night | Blue map markers

The blue icons on the map in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night are custom map markers, sometimes referred to as custom waypoints. Specifically, they are map markers placed by the player, and do not necessarily correlate with anything in that particular room of the castle.

What do all of these blue icons on the map mean?

These markers can only be placed onto the map placed by the players themselves, and more often than not, it seems to happen on accident. In Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the button used to close the menu (Circle on PS4, B on Xbox One, A on the Nintendo Switch) is not the same one used to close the map. Instead, it's used to place markers onto the map.

The map itself can only be closed by using the same button or key used to open it. As such, players trying to close the map inadvertently place a blue map marker in a random location before again pressing the right button to close the map. The result is a map littered with blue rose map markers in a variety of seemingly random locations.

The solution here is twofold: Clear any blue map icons you may have set accidentally, and be sure to close the map using the proper map button. That's the touchpad PS4, the View button Xbox One, the Minus (-) button on Switch, and the T key on PC.

Those blue icons on the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night map can be confusing, but the problem all comes down to player error. The button to close the map is not the same as closing the menu, causing many to place blue markers all across their in-game maps. It's possible to avoid the problem simply by remembering to close the map with the same button used to open it.
