Team Japan clinches a victory at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019

Kicking off at 3 p.m. PT, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019 was the third of three planned tournaments ahead of Nintendo's presence at this year's E3. The others were Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational 2019, where AbdallahSmash026 managed to secure a victory, and the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019, where Japan's GG Boyz managed to clinch a victory over FTWin.

For those who may have missed the details, here are the team lineups: On Team USA was Devonte, Poltergust, Wrath, and DTFaux. Team Europe rolled in with Sirjob, RobinGG, Light, and Thunda. Finally, Team Australia/New Zealand came to the brawl with SebPro101, Ichigo, Ghost, and Pillowtalk.

There were plenty of fantastic matchups between the teams, but when it was all said and done, Team Japan secured a handy victory. Zackray was particularly menacing with Cloud, besting Team Europe with several surprising wins. Of course, it all came down to the matchup between Konbu and SirJob's Zero Suit Samus, but Konbu was able to pick up a Super Mushroom, grow his Mii Swordfighter to tremendous size, and take him out with one well-timed slice in a 3-1 victory.

Congratulations to Team Japan for winning the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019. As Nintendo continues to roll toward this year's E3, be sure to stay on top of all the latest news and reveals by heading over to Shacknews' E3 2019 home page.
