In more wonderful news for owners of Nintendo's hybrid handheld, Gabe Cuzzillo and Devolver Digital have at last released Ape Out for the Switch as well as the PC. Cuzzillo's action-packed adventure about an ape going completely bananas on any ne'er-do-wells who cross its path was previously slated for a February 7 release, but all that carnage needed a little more time in the oven. Fortunately, it's finally arrived, and players can pick it up right now.

The Ape Out page on the Nintendo website describes the game as "a wildly intense and colorfully stylized smash 'em up about primal escape, rhythmic violence, and frenetic jazz." That simple pitch couldn't be more accurate, as the game's latest launch trailer is packed to the brim with all three of those elements. Check it out below.

The Ape Out Steam page goes into further detail about the game's heavily stylized violence, saying "Ape Out features animated but graphic blood, gore, violence and dismemberment of humans." The page also states that the dynamic soundtrack's "drums, cymbals, and decapitations drive the action to the edge of mayhem."

To understand more of what that means, an additional gameplay trailer focuses on the core Ape Out action. It's over-the-top — quite literally — and shows the game's protagonist using human shields, hurling people into walls or out of windows, and making them fire at one another with their rifles and shotguns.

Game fans who like a bit of rhythmic action and stylized violence can pick up Ape Out right for the Nintendo Switch or PC via Steam for $14.99.
