Capy Games' dungeon crawler Below has finally been dated for release after a five-year lull.

Below is hitting Xbox One and PC via Steam on December 14. It's even got a launch trailer, which is more than players could ask for, all in the same day.

Officially, here's what to expect from the game:

"Test your adventurer mettle against The Isle’s procedural subterranean labyrinths. Explore a large, interconnected underworld crawling with cunning creatures, deadly traps, and a mysterious shadowy presence. Survive the perils of The Depths and unearth what lies below... or die trying. Below embraces exploration and discovery - illuminate the path ahead, find hidden passages and unravel the deepest mysteries hidden in the darkness your own way."

The dungeon crawler has a unique visual style that makes it quite unlike most of the other indie titles on the market, so if that's a major selling point for you, make sure you check out the trailer, which does a great job of showing off what kind of visuals you can expect from it. It looks like it's going to be quite difficult, especially with the inky black darkness shown just about everywhere you look. Obviously keeping yourself alive while exploring the murky depths will be an important part of the game in its entirety, from what you can see in the trailer.

Below was originally seen five years ago at the Microsoft E3 2013 press briefing, and at the time was said to be in development as an Xbox One exclusive. Later, Capy Games revealed that it was a timed console exclusive, though after that a Windows PC version was soon announced. After multiple delays, Capy said the game was being put on hold indefinitely. Then, lo! Behold! A 2018 release window was announced, leading to the December 14 release we know about now.
