IndieCade 2018 festival nominees named

IndieCade has laid out this year's list of nominees for the annual indie gaming festival's highest honors.

IndieCade is weeks away, ready to showcase the best in independent gaming. This year's annual festival is being held in a new location, converging on Santa Monica College's Center for Media and Design, home to Los Angeles' National Public Radio affiliate, KCRW. Over 100 indie games will be on display across nearly every platform imaginable, including PC, console, mobile, and VR, with tabletop and card games also among the pack.

On Monday, IndieCade named its 2018 festival nominees, selected by a panel of previous IndieCade finalists, game developers from across both indie and mainstream gaming, artists, researchers, academics, curators, writers, and journalists. While this is the official list as of Monday, IndieCade is leaving room for more in the weeks ahead.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it.
