Augmented reality is at the height of modern technology, and ARKit 2 functionality is one of the core components of Apple's latest devices. Taking to the stage at the recent Apple Special Event, the crew at Directive Games showcased an all-new AR-enabled way to play arcade classic Galaga with an exciting new multiplayer gameplay demonstration.

The Arcade Series app makes use of the ARKit 2 in order to "connect players both digitally and in the physical world." The game's participants were seen circling around the stage, using their phones to direct attacks at swarms of enemy creatures in a coordinated offensive that made use of several stylish powerups.

The first Arcade Series game from the crew at Directive Games will be heading to the Apple App Store later this year. Stay on top of the latest developments from Apple by following Shacknews' Apple home page.
