The Insurgency: Sandstorm developers have given the game a 2018 release window.

It has been quite a while since the ambitious follow-up to Insurgency was announced in early 2016, but the game finally has a solid release date. Insurgency: Sandstorm will launch December 12, 2018, on PC with Xbox One and PS4 versions following sometime in 2019. The preorder open beta has also been extended.

The game was originally set to launch in September, but the press release states that the "extra time will allow developers at New World Interactive to improve and polish their gem and make Sandstorm a stand-out title in the modern FPS genre". It also shares that preorders and player feedback during the beta phase have been strong. The changes made to the beta are noted in the development team's letter to the community.

Insurgency: Sandstorm is going to, hopefully, influence the FPS genre conversation in a positive way when it launches December 12, 2018. Preorders, which are up on Steam currently, feature a 10% discount the grant access to the ongoing beta. A 10% loyalty discount to owners of the original Insurgency will run until March 2019.
