Play Hunt: Showdown this weekend for free on Steam

Crytek's competitive bounty hunting game also gets a discount.

Looking to try out Crytek's competitive "bounty hunting" game Hunt: Showdown steeped with special supernatural elements? You're in luck, as it's available for free right now via Steam throughout the weekend.

The game finds players taking to the Louisiana swampland to hunt down and eliminate a particularly terrifying beast, all the while navigating a particularly gloomy atmosphere. Once the monster is finally taken out of commission, however, things quickly shift. Then, with all the awesome treasure gleaned, the winning team is the new target. If you didn't get to kill the monster, you can just kill the winners instead! How quickly the hunters become the hunted.

You can head over to Steam now if you'd like to get in on the promotion, find Hunt: Showdown's page, and click "Play Game" to jump in now. It's going on until August 13 at 1 PM ET, which should give you a decent amount of time to try it out. It's currently available on Steam via Early Access, pending a full release.
