Super Smash Bros. had one last announcement before ending its portion of Tuesday's Nintendo Direct. That announcement is a new character, who will be joining every character in the series ever.

By popular demand, Metroid villain Ridley will be joining the playable roster. He's been slightly scaled down, size-wise, in order to fit the playing field. But he looks to have all of his attacks from Super Metroid and the Metroid Prime series.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also got a release date. It's set to hit Nintendo Switch on December 7.

RIdley is also playable from the E3 2018 show floor, so look for impressions from Shacknews soon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
