Tilted Towers Survives Fortnite Season 4 Meteor, Dusty Depot Destroyed

The new area reveals a new ability for players to use in Battle Royale too.

What was the deal with the Fortnite meteor? Well, it wasn't headed toward Tilted Towers, as so many theories suggested. With the Season 4 update landing (or crashing) today, Dusty Depot was the Battle Royale map space that ended up getting destroyed. Now, it leaves behind the Dusty Divot.

The new area is a large crater that can be seen from pretty far away, as you can see in the gameplay video above. By the time players jump into the new Battle Royale map, it seems some scientists and archeologists have already left their mark on the comet's strike zone. There's research gear spread around, shipping crates, and a large piece of the comet is quarantined off.

Another important reveal in this new area is the Hop Rock, a new gameplay mechanic. Playing off what seems to be galactic superhero theme, small shards of the comet are spread around for players to grab. When you do, it gives you a glowing aura and the ability to jump pretty high.

RIP Dusty Depot. Long live the dreaded Tilted Towers. Read up on Fortnite Season 4 and the v4.0 patch notes and stay tuned to Shacknews for more updates on the Battle Royale and Save The World modes.
