PAX East 2018: Phantom Doctrine Interview and Gameplay

We have a chat with CreativeForge Games about their upcoming espionage strategy game, Phantom Doctrine.

It only took one close look during PAX South 2018 to put Phantom Doctrine on our radars. CreativeForge Games have built one of 2018’s most intriguing titles by mixing up the gameplay formula from X-Com and inserting it into the heart of some good old fashioned Cold War espionage. The team has some experience in this genre, releasing the stylish western strategy RPG Hard West back in 2015. Considering these factors, it’s no surprise that Phantom Doctrine snuck its way onto our Most Anticipated PC games of 2018 list. To find out more, we sat down with Kacper Szymczak and Blazej Krakowiak of CreativeForge at PAX East 2018.

The interview covers all of the bases, from the technical foundation to the unique setting. The duo discuss how the project grew in scope and required an engine swap and an expansion of the development team. Now running on the popular Unreal Engine 4, Phantom Doctrine can add gorgeous looks to its list of selling points. The interview also includes new gameplay footage and a detailed explanation of the game’s systems and all the goodies the development team plans to bring to the table.

CreativeForge plans to release Phantom Doctrine by the end of 2018 and it will be available on both PC (via Steam) and consoles.
