Fans of turn-based strategy title Galactic Civilizations III should get ready to up their conquest game, as the development team at Stardock are closing in on the final release date of the robust Intrigue expansion. Set to include all-new gameplay elements like politics, government, commonwealths, and more, Intrigue is set to give players an unprecedented level of control and strategic depth across their galactic empires.

The biggest changes coming alongside the Intrigue expansion are the addition of politics and government to the Galactic Civilizations III recipe. Players will now be able to choose how to handle their empires, be it through a democracy, a monarchy, an oligarchy, or even a theocracy. Each of the different systems of government will be determined both by players' own decisions as well as their chosen species.

The expansion will also be releasing alongside the game's free new 3.0 update, the likes of which includes several big tweaks. Of particular note are improvements to the game's tax system as well as the addition of farming, tourism, and a substantial increase to the amount of extreme worlds that players will encounter.

Players who want to know more about the expansion should stay tuned for an upcoming stream featuring Stardock founder and CEO Brad Bardwell. Set to take place on both YouTube and Twitch on April 11, Bardwell will join forces with the likes of Angry Joe to give players their first look at everything new with Intrigue. Those who simply can't wait to learn more should also feel free to head over to the Galactic Civilizations III: Intrigue announcement post featured on the Galactic Civilizations III subreddit or even Stardock's own official Galactic Civilizations III website.

Galactic Civilizations III fans will be able to get their hands on the Intrigue expansion when it releases on April 11. It's slated to cost just $19.99.
