Plants vs. Zombies 2 Introduces PvP 'Battlez'

Who can take out the most zombies? Find out with Plants vs. Zombies 2's new PvP mode.

The neverending struggle between the undead and the plant kingdom continues, with EA and PopCap continuing to support mobile mainstay Plants vs. Zombies 2. A new update has arrived for the almost five-year-old game, this one focused on PvP.

The new Battlez mode introduces asynchronous PvP, which sees players look to see who can take out zombie hordes the fastest. Players earn more points depending on where the board zombies are taken out, with bonus points given for any undead taken out farther away from the house. Sessions will continue until time runs out, so even if the zombies reach the house, they'll simply get removed by lawnmowers for zero points. Whoever stands tall with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Racking up victories leads to climbing up the leaderboards. Players will then be able to put their skills to the test through weekly tournaments, which will award in-game prizes.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 is available now through the App Store and Google Play.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
