Fighting games have had a good 2017 and are things are only set to get better next year. While newer fighters are hitting the arena, Killer Instinct has been at this for four years. This weekend, Microsoft and Iron Galaxy are rewarding the loyal KI fanbase with a special quadruple XP weekend.

Even with Season 3 long since wrapped up, Iron Galaxy continues to pump new content into its fighting game. Characters continue to be balanced on a regular basis, new characters like Eagle and Kilgore have made their debut in the past year, and the game recently made its way to Steam.

Speaking of Steam, Killer Instinct is currently on sale over on Valve's service for the holiday weekend. An Xbox One digital sale is also expected to follow. Full details on the Killer Instinct 4th birthday celebration can be found on the Killer Instinct website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
