Lola Pop Will Bring Her Inflatable Self to ARMS in a Free Update

If you’ve mastered all the fighters in the Nintendo Switch fighting game, ARMS, get ready to meet a new challenger in the boisterous Lola Pop.

In the early morning hours, Nintendo of America revealed a new fighter that is coming to its recent fighting game, ARMS. Lola Pop, the upcoming addition, is joining the roster as part of the next free update. No specific date was mentioned.

Nintendo describes Lola Pop as a “street-performing pugilist,” and adds that she is a “well-traveled clown with a personality as colorful as her clothing.” She can inflate her body, which improves her defensive capabilities.

“With three new Arms and a new stage, players can look forward to developing new strategies whether competing locally against friends or taking on the world online,” Nintendo said.

If you haven’t played ARMS yet, Nintendo would also like to make it easy to rectify that. Though the game has been available in stores since June 16, an ARMS Global Testpunch event will take place from 8AM (PST) on Friday, August 25 and run through 2PM (PST) on Sunday, August 27. You just need to download the software from the eShop to participate.

ARMS has performed well for Nintendo since its release, despite not proving to be a complete breakout hit like Splatoon before it. Critics seem to like it, though they sometimes expressed reservations over the limited character roster. However, Nintendo has provided various free updates since launch, which should help address its biggest issue and produce an even better experience.

“Arms genuinely feels like a fun and different addition to the fighting game genre,” Ozzie Mejia said in our review. “More than that, it feels like just the kind of game that makes the Nintendo Switch itself feel fun and different.”

Have you had time to devote to ARMS yet? If not, you might want to check it out during the Global Testpunch. The excitement that event generates could very well eclipse anything else that has happened this week.
