Adding people via app is definitely worth getting it for, even if all the rest isn't.

But I have to say that this thing is bare bones right now. Splatoon is the only get supported?

Where is my Mario kart voice chat? Why can't I see friends online? Why can't I see play stats? Why can't I see installed games or anything about my ds? Hell, I can't even browse the store for impulse buys.

If this is the service they plan on charging for then my enthusiasm for the switch is going to diminish a lot.

Usually I am behind Nintendo, but there is no good reason that this couldn't be out and fully functional with the Switch. They already knew they were way behind on their online functionality with the Wii U. If they cared about it, they had enough time and money to get it done. They could have even hired a whole team just to work on it if they wanted to. That perceived lack of caring is really rubbing people the wrong way.

Didn't the deal with DeNA go through for exactly this reason? I'm not sure what's going on exactly but it's been ridiculous so far.

I'm sure Mario Kart is coming, but they're launching it with Spla2n. We might not see it for a while though.
