Overwatch Golden Loot Boxes Are a Bonus With Twitch Prime Membership

You don't have to stay a member to get the box, either, although more bonuses come with membership each month.

Overwatch loot boxes are a big deal to players, offering new taunts, sprays and skins for their virtual characters in game. Now, Twitch is offering with its Prime membership through Amazon a special golden loot box, which guarantees a random legendary item. While that's great news, it is even better news that you only have to sign up for a free trial to qualify.

The premium membership through the streaming service offers a variety of perks, including specials for various games. For instance, in addition to the loot box, staying a member will get you five extra free regular Overwatch loot boxes in August and October. Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone loot is also expected.

The deal is even sweeter because signing up for a 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime gets you Twitch prime for free, thereby allowing you to claim the golden loot box. Once you sign up, you will be sent a redeem code to be used on Blizzard's storefront. Then you can immediately cancel the membership before Amazon can bill your card. All items redeemed during the free trial are your to keep and will not disappear from your Blizzard account.

Of course, there are perks to an Amazon Prime membership if you choose to keep it, but it is likely many will grab the free goodies and let cancel their memberships. But the best way to do it is grab as many freebies as you can before the free trial expires, then cancel, but the key is remembering to do it before the charge appears on your credit card.

I just opened a golden loot box. Got a non-duplicate Zenyatta Ra skin, which was nice. At level 356, I'm lucky if I get a single non-duplicate item in a lootbox. I'm not sure if it was pure luck, but this golden loot box didn't have a single duplicate, so I'm wondering if it is designed to not give you a duplicate item.

Don't forget that if you have Amazon Prime, you've already got Twitch Prime.
