Late Night Computing: October 24, 2012
There's a fire in the sky on October 24, 2012, burning for you and Late Night Computing.
Playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown got me in the mood to watch alien abduction movies, so I ask you, denizens of the Internet, are there any titles better than Fire in the Sky? Obviously, you have your blockbuster hits like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, but are there any you think I might not have seen? Please, let me know. Halloween is the best time of year for this type of movie.
Late Night Computing: October 23, 2012
It's a busy day in the tech world. Get the latest and greatest with Late Night Computing for October 23, 2012.
After this rather helpful comment from one OverloadUT, I restarted my Classic Ironman playthrough of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Maybe I just don't know how to play games in my ripe old age of 28, since this singular comment completely mitigated what I thought were cheap squad losses. Turns out, I might just be a bit daft. So here's to you, OverloadUT. Cheers.

Welcome, Commander. You have new priority missions to attend to, so here's your briefing for October 22, 2012 with Late Night Computing.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a brutal game. You just get feeling comfortable with a particular outfit of soldiers, have them all upgraded with the latest technology, when three Slim Men have their way with your entire squad. Perfectionists need not apply to Ironman mode. You'll never make it beyond the first few missions.

Friday is here, as you probably know. End the week the proper way with Late Night Computing for October 19, 2012.
It's the weekend! Hurray! What are you doing the next few days? I'm jumping between Freedom Force and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Sort of a lonely weekend, really. I'd like to think I'm going to get out to see Argo and Seven Psychopaths, but you know how that goes. Plans seem to fall through left and right. Did anyone see these two movies yet? How are they?
Late Night Computing: October 18, 2012
Late Night Computing for October 18, 2012 packs quite a punch tonight.
After watching the new Avengers release on Blu-Ray last week, I've been in the mood for a good comic book game. Freedom Force by Irrational Games itches that gaming urge just right. I played the original to death, but never got around to second Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich. Time to fix that! Here's hoping the sequel is as good as the original.
Late Night Computing: October 17, 2012
Ok, so it's Wednesday. Time to kick back and relax as the rest of the week drags on with Late Night Computing for October 17, 2012.
After finishing up Dishonored on low chaos over the weekend, I moved onto the fourth episode of The Walking Dead by Telltale and Skybound yesterday. I've made assertions in Latest Chatty that The Walking Dead is my hands-down favorite for Game of the Year, and the latest episode has only reinforced my opinion. It's not without its problems (my Xbox 360 version suffers from terrible stuttering at times), but no other game this year has had a similar impact on me. Go play it if you haven't yet.

So the pirate ghosts got the treasure, and we've got the candy-candy-candy-candy-candy! And you've got Late Night computing for October 16, 2012.
Halloween inches closer with the end of today. Two weeks tomorrow! I don't ever get dressed up, or go out for that matter, but there are a few yearly rituals that make this time of year for me. First up? Figuring out where I put my Garfield's Halloween Adventure DVD. Even at 28, it's the only thing that puts me in the right mood for this time of year. Then, a playthrough of Costume Quest, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Do you have any special Halloween rituals?

King Rat has Late Night Computing on his list for October 15, 2012.
Like many other Shackers in our comments, Dishonored sucked me into its maw and refused to release me from its vice-like grip this weekend. Nearly twenty hours later, and I've finished my first run through on low chaos. Bravo, Arkane. It's one of the rare games I wish I could experience again for the very first time. My one complaint? Why isn't there a mission where you have to take out a target on a whaling ship? I wanted to take to the sea and try my hand at evading a naval crew rather terribly!
On that note, I leave you with a music video. King Rat by Modest Mouse.
Late Night Computing: October 12, 2012
Late Night Computing has a new target for October 12, 2012. You.
What do you imagine the world of Dishonored smells like? Yes, I know you're saying to yourself "my what an odd question." But, as I was blinking in and out of the shadows last night, it struck me that this world must wreck rather pungently. Not like that fresh new-car scent wafting through the command center of Mass Effect's Normandy. What does burning whale blubber smell like, anyways? I haven't the slightest idea. And really, I'm not quite sure I need to find out.
Late Night Computing: October 11, 2012
FIRE EVERYTHING. Late Night Computing for October 11, 2012 plots to destroy Vulcan.
Selecting a trailer to include each night can be daunting task, especially on days like today. Some days I anxiously await new trailers to land just so we don't leave that space empty. Other days, I just grimace at the screen since there really is just too much to see. With that in mind, you can always check out new trailers on our video page every day to see them as they go live.
Late Night Computing: October 10, 2012
Late Night Computing for October 10, 2012 is here to salve your aching heart...and wallet.
Still juggling games are you? Me, too! Seems we're in good company. I started Dishonored last night while the fourth episode of The Walking Dead downloaded. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is just going to eat my entire life away, so I figured I better save it for awhile and give me something to play once things slow down. How's your Broketober going so far?
Late Night Computing: October 9, 2012
Take a minute away from your video gaming to check out Late Night Computing for October 9, 2012.
Can't chat long, too much to do. USPS just dropped off my Prometheus Blu-Ray, and I've got XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Dishonored both staring at me expectantly. MechWarrior Online, too, is demanding some tender loving care. Why is it only Tuesday? It should be Friday. Come on!
Late Night Computing: October 8, 2012
Start your crazy week properly with a healthy dose of Late Night Computing for October 8, 2012.
This week is officially bananas, jam packed with new media. Here's what I'm looking forwards to.
Tuesday has the release of Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown, with Prometheus coming to Blu-Ray. Coheed & Cambria also releases their new album The Afterman: Ascension tomorrow. Wednesday has the fourth episode of The Walking Dead (Tuesday for the PlayStation Network crowd). Thursday has the return of my two favorite comedies, The League and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan. Lots of stuff to do over the weekend as well, with the movies Argo and Seven Psychopaths releasing Friday. That's not even mentioning Monday night and Thursday night football or the new episode of Fringe!
Anyone else overwhelmed with this week? Somebody hold me.
Late Night Computing: October 5, 2012
Friday, October 5, 2012. Did you already know that it's the weekend? Let's celebrate with Late Night Computing.
Ten years ago, I would have never thought I'd ever read books on anything else than paper. Amazon with its Kindle changed all of that. Trying to find older books can sometimes be a giant pain in the rear end though. I've been trying to hunt down an eBook format of a book named Warday by Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka from 1985 to no avail, which explores the United States after a limited nuclear strike alters the course of the nation. Thankfully I was able to get my hands on a printed edition, but attempting to track it down proved...difficult. The future has spoiled us all.
