Thursday, January 31, 2013 is over with Late Night Computing.
Goodness, it's been awhile since I fired up Starcraft II. I figured there might be a patch or two to download, only to find nearly two gigs of updates. That's....impressive. Still, I'm going to replay through the campaign before Heart of the Swarm comes out in March. It's not the best writing or story, but I'm a sucker for the lore.

January 29, 2013, and this is your Late Night Computing for Tuesday.
One week until Dead Space 3 launches. As much as I'm anticipating this game, the marketing has really left a bitter taste in my mouth. Dead Space and Dead Space 2 have some particularly great music, with the credits song in the second sticking in my head for quite some time. Will Dead Space 3 continue the trend? I'll let you know next week!

Hey look, it's another Monday. Oh, goodie! January 28, 2013 ends it with Late Night Computing.
Alright, I surrender. I'm terrible at programming. The more I try to understand it, the more confused I wind up. Looks like there's a reason I didn't pursue Computer Science as a career! Besides my inability to handle simple math. It could be I just can't learn from a book. Who knows.

January 25, 2013 sunk your destroyer with Late Night Computing.
What did everyone think of our game of the year selections? It was really difficult to pick this year with so many standout titles. My favorites that didn't make the cut this year had to be Wargame: European Escalation and Crusader Kings II. I'm still trying to expand my tiny European bloodline, but man is it difficult. More games like it, please! I'd love a modern science fiction colony management sim that takes Alpha Centauri and Crusader Kings II and combines them.

January 24, 2013, blah blah, Late Night Computing.
Somebody, somewhere, please do something with the Homeworld property. Please? Pretty please? I stumbled onto my Homeworld and Homeworld 2 discs last night, which is just a tad ironic given the THQ auction yesterday, and have quite the hankering to play them on a modern gaming system. Nexus: The Jupiter Incident will tide me over, though its still not quite the same. Nothing will ever replace the Ion Cannon Frigate in my heart.

January 23, 2013 is seeking a friend for the end of the world. Late Night Computing will keep it company!
THQ officially went under today, having its studios and games auctioned off to a gaggle of bidders that included the likes of Sega, Koch Media, Take Two, and Ubisoft. The most interesting of these, as a real-time strategy fan, is the sale of Relic to Sega. They've done a great job with the Total War series, so the potential pairing of Relic with Creative Assembly is something to be excited about. A Total War-type game set in the Warhammer 40k universe, well, just about make my eyes bug out of my face.

January 22, 2013 is here with a Late Night Computing.
And this is the reason I can't have nice things. I've been doing the Code Year sequence over at CodeAcademy, successfully so far I might add, but just when I think I start to understand what's going on my brain decides to dump anything I thought I learned into oblivion. Oh, grade school math? Surely, a college graduate can manage to remember. But no, the answer is no.
Too long; didn't read - hey guys, I'm stupid.

January 21, 2013 is GONE. GONE I say. And here's another Late Night Computing as its eulogy.
Here's to another disappearing Monday. Did anyone partake in the double XP weekend for MechWarrior Online? Most of my Saturday and Sunday play time went into purchasing upgrades for my Atlas and Centurion variations, since they're the two I seem to play the least. Now I have an embarrassment of riches on the XP side of things, but extremely few C-bills to purchase equipment with. Maybe this weekend should be a double C-bill weekend? What do you say, Piranha?

Late Night Computing for Friday, January 18, 2013 is jumping to the alternate universe where Shacknews is still known as Shugashack.
And it's Friday! This week took forever, mostly because I was anticipating tonight. Why? The series finale of Fringe. It's been a somewhat lousy season, but based on the previews it looks like they saved the entire budget for this one singular episode. Will there be a happy ending? Maybe, maybe not. I'm just glad we finally get to see the alternate universe again. Too bad the show was centered around Peter and Olivia. I'd love to have an entire season on the adventures of Lincoln Lee and the alternate Fringe Division.

Thursday, January 17, 2013 ends on a quiet note with Late Night Computing.
Yeah, yeah, it's only Thursday and I've already run out of things to discuss. You'll have to excuse my brain, I guess, since its decided to take the day off. It's out running errands in the snow while I sit here and stare at my screen like a zombie for some reason.

Late Night Computing for January 16, 2013 laments the final release of MechWarrior: Living Legends.
It's a sad, sad day in the modding world. MechWarrior: Living Legends is sadly discontinuing development as of public release 0.7.0. A mod for Crysis Wars, Living Legends was, for a time, the last great hope for mech pilots everywhere. With the arrival of MechWarrior Online and MechWarrior Tactics, both of which are great games, it was only a matter of time. Still, it's a shame since at its core, Living Legends is truer to the original MechWarrior games than anything I've seen from Piranha Games. Godspeed Wandering Samurai Studios, and thank you for your hard work!

In which Late Night Computing for January 15, 2013 discusses the relevance of Tuesday's existence.
It's Tuesday. Kind of a stupid day, don't you think? It's still the beginning of the week, and the weekend isn't close enough to really look forward to. The only thing to anticipate is Wednesday. And what's Wednesday? The middle of the week? It's just another day is what it is! This time of year drags on and on with relatively few game releases, too, so that makes it even worse! Tuesday should just not exist. We have Monday, then skip right to Wednesday and have a three day weekend two days later. Sound good?

Late Night Computing for Monday, January 14, 2013 has a football hangover.
I'll just go ahead and assume you watched the NFL playoffs this weekend, because really who needs the outside world. It was 66 degrees here Saturday, but there was no way I could pull my face away from the television set. Sunday was just more of the same. Crazy, crazy games. And some of the best football of the season, to boot. I'm officially throwing my hopes into the Harbowl hat, since any other Super Bowl is just going to be boring. You hear me, Brady?

Late Night Computing for January 11, 2012.....and who really reads this? We're out of here, suckers!
Woohoo, the weekend. It's going to be a nice one here, too, leading me to question whether I want to risk going out into public with the flu spreading like an Australian wildfire in my area. Still, this might be my last opportunity to go outside in a short-sleeved shirt before hunkering down through May and the end of winter. Maybe I'll just seal myself inside a giant bubble with an air filtration system.

January 10, 2013 ends, the weekend is just over the horizon, and here is Late Night Computing.
I'm still a bit in shock from yesterday. And so is my wallet. If I've come to learn anything about my gaming tastes, if it has the title 'Warhammer 40,000' or 'MechWarrior,' I'll most likely plunk down some change for access in the future. Where I'm going to find time to actually play all these games, that's a debate for an entirely different day.
