Hello, minions! Did you know Christmas is next week? Here's Late Night Computing for December 17, 2012.
Travelling is pretty much out of the picture for me, so I rely on gaming to see the sights of the world. The place I've always wanted to go the most? The tropics. Far Cry 3 stepped in to take me there over the weekend. The world is absolutely gorgeous, even on my lowly Xbox 360. Hush PC master race, the download would take forever on my shared ADSL connection. I've spent more time cruising around the island, reveling in breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, than I actually have progressing the story, which is a might tacky for my taste.

Late Night Computing is here for December 14, 2012.
It's probably not the best time to make my usual smarmy evening remarks, so I'll just leave you with a simple request. As the holidays approach, turn off the media circus, put down your cell phones, and spend some quality time with your loved ones. You never know when the life of a loved one is going to be taken away.

Good thing it's not Friday, because its the 13th of December. Wait, that's not right. I'd rather it be Friday. Here's Late Night Computing.
I'm finally enjoying Assassin's Creed Revelations. It took several hours of getting used to some of the gameplay alterations, but now it just feels right. That said, I can't help but notice the horrendous artificial intelligence. Yeah, yeah, welcome to last year, guy! How an enemy can stare you down and not notice your dazzling Master Assassin's armor and heavy weaponry and yet still not trigger the foe recognition is a bit beyond me. Perhaps there needs to be a hardcore mode.

Ok, ok, it's the end of the day, and you just want to go home. It's quitting time on December 12, 2012 with Late Night Computing.
Sleeping sounds nice right now. For one reason or another, I've been waking myself up every 45-minutes or so. Not just waking up, mind you. But scaring myself silly. I don't say much during the day, since I work from home and generally keep to myself outside of the Internet, and my brain has just decided it wants to get chatty. With itself, I suppose. Perhaps the Internet really is driving me insane.

Are you still there? Good. Read Late Night Computing for December 11, 2012.
Not too much going on in the gaming world today, adding to the overall slow December season. Other than Christmas shopping, any Shackers out there planning something fun over the holidays? We usually go to the movie theatres and out to eat on New Years Eve, but I feel like doing something different this year. Time to get out of this rut!

Monday, December 10, 2012. Is it the weekend yet? Ugh.
How was your weekend, Shackers? Boring? Good! Those are the best times to catch up your backlog, especially given all the new games due out in the first quarter of 2013. Assassin's Creed Revelations has been my game of choice. Though, something just feels off about this one. Maybe it's the change of locale? I've no idea. Or, I've just played these titles too close together to fully appreciate them.

December 7, 2012 gets some Late Night Computing action to help remind you its the weekend.
I'll be spending the weekend adventuring through Assassin's Creed Revelations since Far Cry 3 was re-routed to a jungle island on its way to my house. It almost seems like the game doesn't want me to play it. That's what I get for not buying a digital copy or just hauling my enormous rear end to a retail location. Oh well!

Another day, another Late Night Computing. End December 6, 2012 the proper way.
Strike another title from my pile of shame as I completed Assassin's Creed Brotherhood earlier today. Great game overall, though it did have its flaws. I won't whine about them. OK, just one since you asked. The ending. There, read into that what you will. My copy of Far Cry 3 is lost in the world of holiday delivery, and somehow I need to decide if I want to wait for it to get here (hopefully by early next week) or move onto Assassin's Creed Revelations. I know, I know. What a quandary. One packing such dire consequences.

Ok, I'm in a much better mood today. Sleep tends to do that. Here's Late Night Computing for December 5, 2012.
Finally, my sinuses have cleared up. Now I can get to the end of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood as my brain is no longer half-asleep from its Nyquil bath. Far Cry 3 is bound to be here soon and I desperately want to get some time in with it before the Internet spoils anything (provided there is anything to be spoiled, of course.) What do you think of the game so far? Am I in for a crazy ride?

Is your name Winter? If so, Late Night Computing for December 4, 2012 hates you.
Winter, or fall, whatever, can jump off a bridge. I've been up for most of the last two days with intermittent sinus attacks due to the changing weather (we're dropping from the mid-60's to the high-30's over the next day). Just when I think I'm groggy enough to fall asleep, a coughing attack summons me from my potential slumber. I imagine this is what Pokemon must feel like when they're unleashed from their tiny dungeons.

December 3, 2012 needs something of a jolt, so have a Late Night Computing!
I know you've been dying to learn how my Italian conquest is going, but the answer remains the same as last Friday. Incomplete. Frankly, I'm not even sure what happened this weekend. There were movies and books and all the types of things that are easy to lose yourself in.
One of those movies just happened to be The Amazing Spider-Man, and I haven't been able to escape the thought that Peter Parker might just be the perfect candidate to become a part of my group in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. How many times have you gazed at that Borgia tower, wishing there were a quicker way to traverse it? Peter and Leonardo should get together and figure something out.

Jerks, it's time for the weekend. So stop reading Late Night Computing for November 30, 2012 from work.
Hurray, the weekend! I've got lots of climbing to do in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, which I intend to finish before getting my paws on Far Cry 3 early next week, and plan to spend some time with Hotline: Miami and MechWarrior Online. I haven't hopped into my thunderous robot since the last patch, so it's time to play with the new camouflage options. What are you all playing?

Hey, look. One more day left in November! It's Thursday evening, time for Late Night Computing on November 29, 2012.
Open world games will be the death of me. I'm sure I've lamented my lack of ability to stay the main quest of a game, but I'm going to do it again. Far Cry 3 is just over the horizon, which is something of a trap for me. Never once have I progressed the main quest in any appreciable manner until I've explored, explored, explored. It never fails. If you don't hear from me next week, I'm probably lost in the tropics attempting to stupidly find a way back to the game's main thrust.

It's only November 28, 2012, and Late Night Computing is tired of Christmas music.
Stop it, games! I had little to no interest in Far Cry 3 until today. Some of the marketing is downright atrocious (looking at you, Monkey Business trailer). Then Ubisoft had to go and mess with my head with the new, has to be some sort of record, 10-minute launch trailer for the game. I tend to be a little skeptical of reviews, especially ones that have nothing but praise, but between the new trailer and the reviews floating around I finally gave in and pre-ordered. Now is your chance to change my opinion on the Far Cry series, Ubisoft. Don't blow it!

Late Night Computing blows up the world on November 27, 2012.
Welcome to Tuesday, Shackers. I'm still slowly working through Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, with a few detours into Mark of the Ninja and Hotline: Miami, both of which are stellar titles. Although the 100% sync memory feature adds a bit of longevity the second title didn't have, it's bugging me a bit and making my completion tick go into overdrive. It's optional, yes, but still bothers me. Guess I'll be sticking around Assassin's Creed Brotherhood longer than I anticipated.

Welcome back to the fold, pilot. Late Night Computing for November 26, 2012 has a Thanksgiving hangover.
How did your Thanksgiving go, Shackers? Mine went well enough, filled with the echoes of assassinations taking place as I progressed through Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. But then a Mark of the Ninja sale caught my eye, and off the track I went. Maybe I'll get back to Ezio and the brotherhood this week sometime after I finish this side-scrolling goodness. It's amazing to me how many superb non-blockbuster games were released this year.

Late Night Computing for November 21, 2012, and boy am I hungry already.
Anyone out there giving Planetside 2 a whirl? I played the original some in college as a dropship pilot, especially since combat was so sketchy with a slow Internet connection. Good times were had! I'm expecting more of the same to give me a break from those pesky relatives. Sometimes you just need to shoot something, you know?

Stompy, stompy, Late Night Computing is here for November 20, 2012.
The Walking Dead isn't out for me until tomorrow, so it looks like I'm hitting the battlefield of MechWarrior Online to test out the brand new Cataphract. I've been running the first hero mech in the Yen-Lo-Wang, a Centurion-class mech, and doing pretty well. The C-bill boost is probably the best part about that mech at the moment, helping me to quickly rebuild my reserve since the open beta reset. What type of mech are you running?

Monday, November 19, 2012 with Late Night Computing is here, and it's a short week for most of you.
That's two Assassin Creed titles down for the count. Saturday and Sunday saw me glued to my television as I devoured Assassin's Creed II. The last assassination sequence seemed a bit rushed, but beyond that I completely understand the praise for the title. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is next, though I may hold off on it until playing through the last Walking Dead episode on Wednesday. I'm really excited to see how Telltale ends the first season!

Happy weekend, Shackers. Late Night Computing for November 16, 2012 lands in celebration.
Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, obviously. We're busy preparing in my household, but I can't help not have any interest. Usually I make a giant pig of myself. This year, on the other hand, I'm bored of our usual recipes. Do me a huge favor, Shack, and post links to your favorite Turkey day recipes. My family really needs to get out of the stale menu we have every year.

The week drags on, and hits Late Night Computing for November 15, 2012 square in the kisser.
Sorry Ezio, it looks like the zombie apocalypse is going to take precedence for me next week. Telltale revealed the season finale of The Walking Dead will land next Wednesday and Thursday, which I'm greatly anticipating. The last episode left on something of an expected, but surprising note, and I can't wait to see how it concludes.

November 14, 2012 saw the new Grand Theft Auto V trailer turn some heads. What did you think? Have you picked your jaw up off the floor yet? Watch it again at the end of Late Night Computing.
Two hours into Assassin's Creed II, and Ezio is already so much more developed than his Assassin's Creed conspirator Altair. I've heard the sequel is right at the top of the series, so its time to buckle down and take my time with the game. An engrossing story is exactly what I wanted to play over Thanksgiving next week!

November 13, 2012 comes to a close, and here you are, reading Late Night Computing.
And that's one down. Finishing Assassin's Creed nearly made me late for work, but I had to hold on and finish the last cutscene. Not bad! I've tried to play the game several times in prior years and could never seem to make it to the first city before losing interest. This time was different, though, and I'm glad I stuck with it. Tropes and repetition aside, it's still a pretty decent game. Now, onto Assassin's Creed II tonight.

Welcome to the beginnings of a new week with Late Night Computing for Monday, November 12, 2012.
That didn't work out very well. It's never too early to break a New Year's resolution, which is precisely what I did over the weekend as I wound up going to the theatre to see Skyfall rather than sit outside and enjoy the fall sunshine with a novel. Shame on me. Oh well. The movie was great, though I think Casino Royale is still the king of the modern 007 era in my book.

It's the weekend, and you're surely out celebrating. If not, tune in for the November 9, 2012 edition of Late Night Computing.
Happy Friday, Shackers. After a few weeks of temperatures near freezing, the weather is shifting here with a warm-up anticipated over the next few days. Though Assassin's Creed is begging for my attention, I figure this might be my last chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine before winter permanently settles in. So what's on my list to do? Read. It's never too early to make a New Year's resolution, and mine is just that - reading more. Not that I ever really took a break. I just haven't finished a novel in a few months.
