I took a screenshot of what the ads were in Chrome at the time but I'm not sure it's enough. I added a new thing to the Google Chrome Shack Extension that prompts people when they change pages using onbeforeunload, but I can't really know if it'll stop that ad from doing its thing again until (unless?) it happens again.
I'll upload the updated extension to the Google Code page if anyone else wants to keep the Developer Tools window open and run the new version.

They usually seemed to get sorted out within a few hours, if not a day, though.
I also remember Steve talking about having words with the ad network about what was and wasn't acceptable, and also don't remember seeing the kind of hideous, ghetto ads that infest the shack right now (that's not even including the ones that try to infect reader's machines with viruses).
There were some issues with ads in the past but they got dealt with far better and it feels like the way the site is being run now is way worse than it was, and the site looks more down-market than it did. That can't be good in the long term.
