I took a screenshot of what the ads were in Chrome at the time but I'm not sure it's enough. I added a new thing to the Google Chrome Shack Extension that prompts people when they change pages using onbeforeunload, but I can't really know if it'll stop that ad from doing its thing again until (unless?) it happens again.
I'll upload the updated extension to the Google Code page if anyone else wants to keep the Developer Tools window open and run the new version.

At the moment, for the money, I don't think it's worth paying for. I'm happy to view the ads (and I'll even click on ones that interest me, though I wonder who the fuck the current ads are targeted at as it's certainly not gamers). I don't use FileShack enough to care about that and I've got my own web hosting. So Mercury really doesn't give me anything.
On the Shack of today the thing I value the most are these chattys. Within those what I value is the posts from all the other users here. Paying for Mercury doesn't encourage more cool people to post on the Shack so, to be blunt, I get nothing from it (unless it's a matter of life or death for the site, and when the site was in that situation a few years back I donated to help out).
OTOH, serving malware to people for weeks and not doing anything effective to stop it can only have a negative effect on the amount of cool people posting here. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about that situation except continue to urge the people in charge to pull their heads out of their arses and deal with the situation properly by switching to an ad network that vets their content properly and financially punishing the current ad network which does not.
