Morning Discussion

By Xav de Matos, Jan 25, 2011 5:00am PST Vacation's over. I really enjoyed my time away from work, exploring some of the great spots buried within Chicago. It was a hectic time in the city due to the face-off between the Bears and the Pack. It didn't turn out well for Bears fans.

What did turn out well was Never Not Funny, live at the Congress Theater. The show was hilarious as usual, Daver sang the theme and the crew sang along at the end. As an added bonus, I had the pleasure of meeting the crew. What a classy group of gentlemen.

Well, it's back to work for me. Next time I'll be sure to remember to take more than two days off. Maybe.

  • Ahhh, Castlevania:Lords of Shadow. I want to love you. I really do! But you're just so god-damn clunky!!

    Your lack of any manual camera control drives me insane, I know you followed the God of War model but your implementation is terrible.. fights in small rooms often have enemies filling the entire camera and you can't see WTF, even worse when I'm being attacked by something OFF the camera and can't do anything about it other than moving closer.. if you gave even a modicum of camera control to the player this would have been alleviated.

    This coupled with your rubbish visual cues make the exploratory aspects painful rather than fun. You don't punish people too much for trying to jump to a ledge that looks accessible (but inevitably isn't) but it's still irritating to lose that health for nothing. Even worse when I'm having to follow your linear design which still isn't particularly obvious sometimes.

    It's almost as irritating as when I can see a fallen knight and I press up to climb over a ledge and nothing happens, so I try again and nothing happens.. I write it off as accessible from somewhere else.. but it isn't.. and when I try it again (doing nothing different) on a subsequent run through the same chapter it suddenly works.

    The above is a real shame because your creature design is great. The graphics are stunning. Your story is typically batshit insane but still interesting and there is lots of potential.. but that's the upsetting thing. The game's fun but it could have been so much more :(

    Pah. PAH I say. STOP faffing around with this 3D bullshit and do a true 2D sequel to Symphony Of The Night already.
