Morning Discussion
by Xav de Matos, Jan 25, 2011 5:00am PSTVacation's over. I really enjoyed my time away from work, exploring some of the great spots buried within Chicago. It was a hectic time in the city due to the face-off between the Bears and the Pack. It didn't turn out well for Bears fans.
What did turn out well was Never Not Funny, live at the Congress Theater. The show was hilarious as usual, Daver sang the theme and the crew sang along at the end. As an added bonus, I had the pleasure of meeting the crew. What a classy group of gentlemen.
Well, it's back to work for me. Next time I'll be sure to remember to take more than two days off. Maybe.

In anticipation of Skyrim I decided to load this up and give it a real playthrough. I've spent many, many hours in Fallout 3 but only a handful in Oblivion. Something about the world just never grabbed me. To help remedy this I've loaded a handful of visual enhancement mods--Darnified UI, Unique Locations, Natural Environments, Qarl texture pack, and the unofficial community patch.
Continuing my Skyrim anticipation theme I decided to play as a Nord and then went with the Knight class and the Steed birthsign. I wanted to beat things down with a little support magic while still being mobile. However, something has gone severely wrong.
I'm in Kvatch doing the first save the city from siege quest line, and I'm just getting my ass handed to me. After every encounter with a single enemy low level skamps--WTF! I'm left with about 10% health...forcing me to retreat and spam the starter-level healing spell and/or health potions. This sucks, because some of the encounters involve a mob of enemies and I just get torn apart like a paper bag. WTF? I should be wading through these guys like a Diablo 2 barbarian! Am I doing it wrong? Somebody give me some pointers, please.
