Morning Discussion
by Chris Faylor, Mar 19, 2009 7:27am PDTWell, I suppose it's nice to see that there was a somewhat legitimate reason behind all those problems everyone else and I were having with Merchants of Brooklyn.
With the final "gold" version now properly out, I played a bit more of the cartoony shooter last night, and was actually able to make some progress without hitting some game-stopping bug. The opening cutscene is so laugh out loud cheesy, it's amazing.
As for the actual gameplay, I'm very much enjoying the part where damn near any object can be grabbed, charged with explosive energy, and used as a grenade. However, I do wish that Matteo wasn't so quick to die. I know I'm not the best gamer, but come on.

PHOTN: Just refined all the ore that was in your containers you dropped in the corp hangar. Today I'll be paying out 73,668,578.98 ISK to corp members for 2 days of mining. Way to go, guys! Pretty easy way to make ISK, huh?
We almost had a PvP encounter last night, too. A mercenary corp in Torrinos flipped cygzso's can, which almost turned into a battle royale. Unfortunately they decided not to attack us. :( I was ready to blow up their Onyx, too.

Right now its Resident Evil 5, which keeps me thinking how I could attempt a battle differently, with what weapons and at what vantage point. Playing on Veteran makes it a real challenge, making every shot a risk and every bullet an asset. Not since BioShock have I felt this way about a game.

Have you guys seen the trailer for that new Nicolas Cage movie "Knowing"? Did you also think it looked really bad?
Ebert gave it 4 stars! He said it's one of the best science fiction films he's seen! He compares it to Dark City. Apparently it's the same director.
I'm kind of excited for this movie now which is odd because I still think the trailers are not very good.

I was stupid back in '05 and '06 and completely passed on picking up High Seize because I just kind of assumed that it'd be easier to pick up cheaper down the line. Oh, nevermind that it was a mail order only game or that it was one of the final games to come out for a system that horribly bombed. Like we'd ever see a repeat of what happened to the Saturn! So yea, for the last 3 years I've been trying to score a copy, but they've been a bitch to find. I'd always stumble on eBay auctions after they'd been completed or I'd wind up getting sniped.
Well, today I managed to nail an auction for the European release and another auction for the "Press Kit" version. From what I gather, the only real difference between the European and US releases are the PEGI and ESRB ratings on the front, but I'm pretty sure I'll pick up the ESRB release later just to complete the trifecta.
tl;dr - I finally nabbed one of the most acclaimed games for the most underrated system of the last decade and I'm totally doing the happy dance. High res scans will be posted when the games are received.

R&C : Quest for Booty is $10 for a limited time.
If you've not played R&C, this is a nice intro into the game series and that price is attractive. For those that have played it, QfB is good though a tad short.

At least FaceBook status is every day or so, given the detail most seem to go to I'm surprised people don't Tweet when they take their daily shit. Jesus. :(
