Thief dev answers your questions on sound, stealth, and more

When we knew we were going to be getting a closer look at the new Thief during E3, we solicited some questions from the community on what you wanted to know about the new game. We got some time with Daniel Windfeld Schmidt, lead level designer on the game at Eidos Montreal, and he offered up some interesting answers.

Garrett is making his return in a new Thief, and just in case you forgot who he is and what he loves, a new trailer tells you that he loves to steal. Its a nice video, but again, don't expect any gameplay. You didn't want to see that any way, did you?

While many Thief fans are not happy with the revelation that Stephen Russell will not be back as the voice of the stealthy Garrett in the upcoming franchise reboot, developer Eidos Montreal said it had to do with how they were developing the game, not a dissatisfaction with the actor.

Thief's hero redesigned to be 'more mainstream'

"We wanted to keep the main DNA of who Garrett was; we didn't want to change that much because it was working already," game director Nicolas Cantin said. But, "we wanted to bring in more of the modern audience of the console market."
