Eidos Montreal's new Thief sneaks into next week's new releases, opening the doors to also let in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the PC HD revamp of Resident Evil 4, the Xbox editions of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and oh, even more.
Next week brings oodles of new games, including bug-squisher Earth Defense Force 2025, town-builder Banished, the next-gen versions of jumper Rayman, murder-y jumper Strider, ape simulator Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and an Early Access release for mankind-destroyer Plauge Inc: Evolved on PC. Oh, and a new Dreamcast game.
Next week will find see the end of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, when Lightning Returns launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Other new releases include Llamasoft's TxK, the Xbox 360 edition of World of Tanks, Far Cry Classic, Metal Slug 3 for PC, and an Early Access version of Dead State.
Pinch, punch, first new releases of the month! (Check your retailer's returns policy.) We'll see the launch of Fable Anniversary, Bravely Default, Jazzpunk, The LEGO Movie Videogame, Outlast on PS4, Dustforce on PlayThings, and oodles more.
The new game drought is finally over, as next week will shower beautiful games down upon us. We'll see Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for next-gen consoles, the wriggly Octodad: Dadliest Catch, dogfighting FPS Strike Vector, the official launch of Double Fine's Broken Age, home defense 'em up The Castle Doctrine, and oodles more.
As you may have noticed, all's a bit quiet in the world of video games lately. This continues next week, which brings PC RPGs Might & Magic X and Blackguards, tactical shooter Insurgency (which has been available through Early Access for a while), Vita skate 'em up OlliOlli, and not much else.
Next week's not bulging with new releases, but still brings a few games of interest. Along with Assassin's Creed Liberation HD, we'll see the launch of The Banner Saga and Europa Universalis IV's expansion Conquest of Paradise. And we'll finally, finally get the hugely anticipated two-player swordfighting duel game Nidhogg.
The first full week of 2014 brings a respectable lineup of new releases, including Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance's PC edition, the PS4 port of Don't Starve, Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder, an Early Access version of the Dismount series' latest wacky physics murder sim, and more.
What's coming next week? Ah. Well. Dr. Luigi, definitely. Beyond that, though, it's all a bit of a mystery. No one seems certain, and schedules are clogged up with games listed broadly for "2013." Given that Tuesday, the typical retail release day, is New Year's Eve, everyone's probably waiting for things to settle down. Oh, what trouble the holidays bring!
Given that next Tuesday is Christmas Eve, it's not surprising that few games are coming out next week. In fact, it's almost surprising how many are. The two headliners are Zen Pinball 2 for PlayStation 4 and Halo: Spartan Assault for Xbox One, so we'll get a few next-gen funsies for Crimbo. For people who prefer practical gifts, Pokémon Bank is coming too.
