Groennfell Meadery - Oaked Amber Mead Review

Groennfell Meadery - Oaked Amber Mead Review

I brew my own mead because it’s so hard to find it. I found a Meadery online that shipped their Oaked Amber mead! How is it? Find out my review.

For those who do not know I brew my own mead. I usually get my mead fix at the yearly Renaissance Pleasure fair in Southern California, but due to Covid it has been canceled, likely until 2023. The bar there serves mead, but only uses to mix with other stuff. I then decided to start brewing my own hard cider and mead cause the process seemed easy enough.

I thought I did well, the ciders were fantastic, but the mead seemed very strong and almost had a light ethanol taste to it. Was I doing this right? I went online and found the Gronnfell Meadery, and order some normal (non-infused) mead. It took about 2 weeks to get to me. When I finally got it, I cracked it open and was very happy with my results. Their mead was light and smooth, it tasted like a less strong version of my mead I was making. So, I knew I was on the right track!

I am glad though this process that I was able to find the Gronnfell Meadery online and order mead. I’ll definitely be ordering more in the future! As well as continuing to brew my own!

Pros

I know I'm on the right track with my mead!

Mild and nice flavor

Has a wizard on the can

Seems like a cute small business

Cons

It is a east coast Meadery, so it takes a while to get if you’re on the west coast.

Can be expensive if you don't order 75$ worth of Mead

Neat review! I'm too poor to buy mead, so I homebrew instead. I find that the hot alcohol taste arises when the mead is freshly brewed. It goes away with bottle aging - at least three months and preferably a year or more.

Are you bottling your mead in glass or in those PET bottles? Do you carbonate your meads? I like them dry and sparkling for that honey champagne experience.

Yeah I use champagne yeast. Those are just soda bottles with pressurized caps to let the carbonation escape
