      Ugh. I don't like this. :(

... what I mean is that I don't like being ripped away from the Chatty to read content that's been in the chatty for years. :(

If ppl prefer that, I'll keep doing it that way then. I though it could work that way too.

I think the Corex links either need to open new tabs, or open in a lightbox modal so we're not constantly going back and forth between the chatty and Cortex. I know I can right-click whatever, but ugh.

... and honestly, I think you should use it, because you bring a lot of interesting news here before other people, and I hope some of it gets bumped to the front page in all honesty. If Cortex was built for anyone, it's you. haha

I can understand some things being there and some things not, per gooblerampling's comment above. Call this just an experiment to see if that worked.

Perhaps in a freebies of the week type post yes (I'm watching you Shirif)

hmm not sure I'll use Cortex for these kind of things.

Yeah a summary or an automatic more in reply would be great

So if I were to post this, and then include, as first post, the basic links, that would be as good?

yeah, it doesn't make for the best user experience. could use some more planning to make it work inline with chatty instead of competing with it.

I haven't poked at Cortex much yet, but I do get the feeling it's better suited for more long-form content, whether articles or blog posts or image collections. Clicking-through just for EGS free game links is unnecessarily cumbersome.

That said, support for something like an abstract or summary that appears as part of the chatty post would be helpful in general.

Automated in reply text the author can enable for the OP Cortex would be useful. Could be a customized summary.

Yeah I don’t think this content works for Cortex. This works better as something that’s seen entirely within a post and nit hey click here to see more. Cortex is much better for long for reviews, recipes, etc.

You beat me to it. I said the same basic things above before reading your post.

It will work, people just need to put some more content in the cortex posts for it to be worthwhile clicking. Just to use use Masem’s post as an example:

-links to other articles/threads on Shacknews about the games
-short mini-reviews if possible, to give you a reason to look into it.
-any relevant recent news related to the games of EGS.

I think people will start generating content with a bit more substance (no offense Masem), and other types of posts will just naturally pop back up in the chatty. It will take some time and there’ll be some crossovers or uses that just don’t fit, but it will get there.

I think it's cool you're putting this on cortex so I can subscribe and not miss the freebies anymore.
