As we tick off the final five games in the Toronto Maple Leafs season and get ready for another first round playoff series against Tampa Bay, I've had the Leafs Game 1 lineup on my mind. Figured I'd use the Armchair GM tool on Capfriendly to put together what I'd do. I suspect I'm wrong with at least one spot on every line, but this isn't a prediction, it's what I would roll with! Again, this is why I'm not a coach.
My biggest concern is the third line, which I think is a bit weak. The fourth line is fine and should have some great battles against TB's fourth line, but I could see Ryan O'Reilly moving to 3C to give the Leafs more depth. The D pairs are likely close, but I could see Holl taking a scratch here or there. Schenn shouldn't come out of this lineup at all. We'll need him.
Goaltending, Samsonov is the starter if he's healthy. Murray will be the backup if he's healthy, but Woll has proven he's capable if we need to go that route. Should be an interesting series. Another tough go against a mean TB squad.
