Been testing this for a while in the alpha and beta channels. No one's mentioned any issues. There was a small one I was aware of with the mouse cursor not changing back to normal after interacting with a WebView2 control but the WinUI 2.8.1 release notes say that should be fixed now, so we're going full release with this one.

Hope all 5 of you that use it enjoy! The webviews are much more usable now that they're not EdgeHTML based!

        I'm still using LAMP lol

I probably should uninstall LAMP and use something else but I mostly LAMP around just for this feature introduced in version 6.9:
        https://www.shacknews.com/chatty?id=31771715#item_31771715

        - Queuing submitted posts. You don't have to worry about trying to resubmit a post, if you hit the PRL. Now, submitted posts sit in a queue and get processed one at a time. You don't need to wait around. The posts will be submitted eventually. The post queue's state is displayed in the toolbar. If there are pending posts to be submitted, it will show something like "Submitting 3 Posts...". If a PRL happened, that is mentioned too. You don't have to do anything about it, but you will know why it is taking so long. This feature only works when using Winchatty V2 server.

Yeah, not something I'm going to spend time adding since the PRL is higher now and we're lucky if the majority of active people post more than a handful of times in a day. I'd be surprised if anyone other than you or Korban ever even run into the PRL.

It's also not a super straight forward change given the limitations of running background tasks in UWP.

Happy to entertain pull requests, though! :) https://github.com/latestchatty/werd/

Been getting more random lost login issues in the past couple weeks especially since the prior update. No rhyme or reason, just go to hit post and then an error that I'm not logged in but Werd says I am. I restart it and then it updates to not being logged on. Happened like four times total. One was a few days apart and recently two days apart.

Dam, that hasn't happened to me in ages. The error handling around logging in is pretty crappy though, if it can't do it for any reason (spotty Internet, flaky shack or winchatty servers, etc), it'll just silently fail and log you out I think. I should probably try to make it better. Thanks for letting me know it's happening often for you. I'll try to look into it.

If you wouldn't mind, Go into Settings -> General and turn on Dev Tools. The next time you open the app and notice you're logged out, open Dev Tools from the main menu and copy the debug log and shoot it to me in a SM or on discord or something. There should at least be an exception logged if something fails during authentication and that might help.

Are you in the beta? Just pushed an update that'll roll out soon that should make logins a little bit more resilient on app launch, too.

Yeah I'm in the beta, had the debug mode on but it didn't see it go back far enough to the last log in issue, upped the limit to 1000 lines to see if it'll catch it next.

      Thanks boarder2!

Didn't know there were alpha/beta channels. Recently noticed that in dark mode the link buttons (copy link/open external) are almost invisible, had been using the Werd browser for the longest time before I noticed.

What accent color are you using?

It was set to 'System' but I tried 'Cobalt' and the icons are very visible now, thanks!

One thing I noticed, testing these settings I tried 'Cyan' and Werd turned super white and the settings were hard to navigate.

Doesn't bother me now that I've figured it out, just an FYI.

Yeah, if you have a grayish system accent color it'd do that. I dont' have anything to detect system accent colors that would be bad for contrast.

Actually, do you know what the exact settings you used to get it that way is?

Dark mode and cyan? Other than that I'm not sure, don't think I changed much.

What do the new WebUI and WebView provide?

      And thanks, I use it!

WinUI 2.8 gives it a more Win 11 native look and feel.

WebView2 means when you open web links in the app itself or any embedded web content in the app will be rendered using the Edge Chromium renderer instead of EdgeHTML. Much better compatibility.

After switching to Mac full time about a month ago, I can honestly say that Werd is pretty much the only thing I miss about Windows :(

      Big fan of your work!

FWIW, if you install the ARM version of Windows with Parallels, Werd works great there! That how I use it every single day!

That’s good to know. I haven’t had the need for Parallels yet, but I will keep that in mind if I ever end up buying it.
