Overwatch Breaks 25 Million Registered Players

Blizzard has announced Overwatch now has over 25 million registered players.

Overwatch has over 25 million registered players according to an announcement from Blizzard. Overwatch was a favorite of many publications last year and took our #2 Shacknews game of the year slot for 2016.

Blizzard has continued to support the game fervently, rolling out new maps, characters, and content at a regular pace. Right now the Chinese New Year Year of the Rooster event is going on now and will continue until February 13. This event adds exclusive Loot Boxes, a new take on capture-the-flag called Capture the Rooster, tons of cosmetic items, and more.

Blizzard's dedication to Overwatch is evident, and it's apparent that the game will continue to grow and be a success in the years to come. If you aren't part of the 25 million players that have already purchased Overwatch, you can get it now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

They have arguably the best ARPG, MMORPG, RTS, FPS, MOBA, and TCG. What's next?

Third-person shooter or a full blown single player rpg.

Come on now. HotS is nowhere near the best MOBA.

I did say arguably. I don't really play MOBAs so I'm not a good judge. I just know it's popular and has the usual Blizzard polish.

does popcap even exist anymore? or did EA get rid of all the good people like every studio they eat

PvZ 2 was awful, so I suspect that EA trashed the studio to hell.

I say they make a turn-based tactical RPG. I'd buy that.

          Re-skin FTL as a Starcraft rogue-like.

If you don't have a single player component, you shouldn't be able to qualify for FPS. Multiplayer FPS perhaps?

i love diablo 3, but i wouldn't call it an rpg. more of a glorified slot machine

id like a proper sp game from them, doesnt matter what genre, but blizzard polish with a half decent narrative and new ip would be nice

its great and the matches arent too long. I'd highly recommend it. Plus lot of different roles so twitch shooter skills not really required.

Impressive, being Blizzard's first FPS and the result of a failed project.

I know it's wrong to anthropomorphize companies this way, but I can't help but think Overwatch success as a big FU to Valve for taking Dota2 away from them.
