Announced for PS4 at the 2015 PlayStation Experience, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will take flight on Xbox One and PC when it's ready for release.

Ace Combat 7 marks the return of the series, which has lain dormant since 2007's Ace Combat 6, and a back-to-basics approach for the franchise.

"A few years ago, I got a questionnaire to the users and got the worst answers," said producer Kazutoki Kono, who has worked on the series since the fifth numbered entry. "Now we want to listen to the users' voice more closely so we can get back to the roots of the series."

Sunao Katabuchi, who wrote Ace Combat 4 and 5, is penning the script for the seventh game.

A timeframe for the release remains unknown, although publisher Bandai Namco expects it to be ready sometime this year (via IGN).
