Square Enix and Marvel Announce Multi-Game Partnership Starting With 'The Avengers project'

Square Enix and Marvel have announced a new project involving the Avengers franchise.

Today on Twitter, both the Square Enix and Marvel official accounts have revealed a new collaboration to produce multiple games. So far details are sketchy, but we do know the first game will involve the Avengers franchise.

According to the Marvel tweet, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal seem to be the Square Enix Studios involved in the production of The Avengers project. Perhaps we'll get something in the vein of the excellent rebooted Tomb Raider series.

Marvel seems to be spreading the love as far as video game partnerships go. At The Game Awards in December, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - The Telltale Series was unveiled, and it's slated to arrive sometime in 2017.

For now, we only have the teaser from the Square Enix and Marvel Tweets to go on, but it'll be exciting to see what's in store for us with The Avengers project in the future.

That was always unlikely. lol. Seriously though, no one has exclusive rights. Marvel got burned really bad by Activision and they are not going to sign those deals again.

no, I mean this Avengers game. which would it mirror? I doubt Marvel would sign with a developer for the dev to try something new or different

While I'm in favor of more superhero games that are actually good, and Marvel has been thankfully restrained with their licenses of late, I'm not going to get excited until there's some actual information about the games.
