Oculus Medium: Sculpting the Shacknews Logo

Watch Asif do it for Shacknews with his hands in virtual reality!

We all know that I love to do it for Shacknews. So when given a chance to sculpt something in Oculus Medium with Oculus Touch controllers, I had to make a Shacknews logo. Oculus Medium is a virtual reality sculpting application that is free for all Oculus Touch users. Please take a look at this video. Around 7 minutes in, I ran into a serious problem with the capital W in the application. I did it for Shacknews in the end, and there was much rejoicing.

Oculus Medium will launch free for purchasers of Oculus Touch controllers on December 6th.

Asif Khan is the CEO, EIC, and majority shareholder of Shacknews. He began his career in video game journalism as a freelancer in 2001 for Tendobox.com. Asif is a CPA and was formerly an investment adviser representative. After much success in his own personal investments, he retired from his day job in financial services and is currently focused on new private investments. His favorite PC game of all time is Duke Nukem 3D, and he is an unapologetic fan of most things Nintendo. Asif first frequented the Shack when it was sCary's Shugashack to find all things Quake. When he is not immersed in investments or gaming he is a purveyor of fine electronic music. Asif also has an irrational love of Cleveland sports.

      It looks cool, for the creative types. I wonder how long it'll be till you can export it to a 3D printer.

      Sculpting is hard at first!
      
      And even when you get good, if it's fired stuff it can be fun by deciding to explode in the kiln. I made a bob-omb once that was awesome but was a tad more practical than I intended, taking out a couple of other students' sculptures in the process. Turns out you have to account for/avoid large masses.
      
      At least in VR the cleanup is easier.

  I didn't know the new logo had a roof. Thought the roof parts were the insides of the box.

  I can't wait to get up and running with a real VR setup. I could waste hours in something like this.
