Nintendo registered a trademark for "Wave Race' with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (via Dual Shockers).

Per the document, Nintendo filed the trademark under Class 9, for game software.

Nintendo hasn't mentioned anything about a new or remastered Wave Race game. Wave Race 64 is available on the Wii U eShop for $9.99; the 2001 sequel, Wave Race: Blue Storm, remains stranded on GameCube.

Wave Race originated on Game Boy in 1992. It's one of many long-dormant franchises that Nintendo could be reawakening for the release of its Switch console/handheld hybrid next March.
