The PlayStation 4 is about to get its own Splatoon, but this one may not be as suitable for young players.

A new entry in the Senran Kagura series has been announced for the PlayStation 4 which appears to borrow heavily on Nintendo’s Splatoon, called Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash.

The title is being described as a water gun-based third-person action shooting game where players take part in a mysterious water gun tournament called Peach Beach Splash. The tournament harkens back to the ancient days in the world of the shinobi, although each character's’ special abilities and standings as either good or bad shinobi are completely thrown out the window. The only thing that matters during the tournament is victory which can only be earned through the use of water guns.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash will feature five-on-five team-based battles with both its own story and online multiplayer game modes. There will be over 30 characters from the Senran Kagura series available to play as, along with a number of water guns, such as dual pistols, gatling guns, sniper rifles, and more. A CCG-based mechanic will also allow players to enhance their weapons in a number of ways.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash is scheduled to release in Japan on March 16 on the PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR support expected.
